Can you still get tickets?

All official FIFA sales ballots have closed. FIFA's Last-Minute Sales phase launched on 1 April and operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If any official inventory remains, it's available for immediate purchase through the FIFA ticketing portal. The FIFA Official Resale Marketplace is also open, allowing fans to buy and sell verified tickets at regulated prices — that's the safest route if you want a primary-channel ticket at this stage.

Official face-value prices were structured across four categories. Category 4 (upper tier, furthest from the pitch) started at $2,030. Category 3 (upper tier, behind the goals) was $2,790. Category 2 (lower and upper tiers, corners and outer edges) was $4,210. Category 1 (lower tier, preferred sidelines) had a base face value of $6,730, though FIFA's dynamic pricing model pushed front Category 1 releases as high as $32,970.

On the secondary market, prices are well above face value. Resale platforms with buyer protection exist, but expect listings priced significantly higher than the original face-value tiers. Prices tend to rise rather than fall as kick-off approaches.

Getting to MetLife Stadium

• The stadium is in East Rutherford, New Jersey, roughly 13 miles from Midtown Manhattan.
• NJ Transit runs direct rail from Penn Station (New York) to Meadowlands Station, a short walk from the ground. This is the most practical option from Manhattan.
• Driving is possible but parking around a World Cup final will be slow. Factor in at least two extra hours either side.
• Arrive at least two to three hours before kick-off given the scale of the event and likely security queues.
• Bring a valid photo ID that matches your ticket registration. FIFA has used mobile ticketing throughout the tournament, so make sure your phone is fully charged or carry a portable battery.

What to watch for: form and head-to-head

Spain reached the final by beating France 2-0 in Dallas, with goals from Mikel Oyarzabal and Pedro Porro. That win extended Spain's unbeaten run to 37 matches, tying Italy's record for the longest winning streak by a national team. It is Spain's first World Cup final appearance since they won the trophy in South Africa in 2010.

Argentina came through a harder route. They beat England 2-1 in Atlanta, coming from behind thanks to late goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez, with Martinez scoring in stoppage time from the bench. Argentina are attempting to become only the third nation to win back-to-back World Cups, after Italy (1934 and 1938) and Brazil (1958 and 1962).

Spain opened as favourites with DraftKings listing them at -164, with Argentina as +134 underdogs shortly after the semi-finals. Spain have won four of the last six meetings between the two sides, though the teams have not played each other since 2018.

Lionel Messi spent the majority of his club career at Barcelona, so this final pits him against the country where he grew up as a professional. He assisted both Argentina goals against England but did not score.

Spain have a clean bill of health after the France game. Nico Williams is pushing for a start after coming off the bench in the last two matches. Pedri was dropped for those same two games, so his place in the starting XI is not guaranteed. For Argentina, Nicolas Gonzalez and Rodrigo De Paul could come into contention after their impact as substitutes against England.
