2026/27 Premier League Fixtures: Everything You Need to Know

The fixtures for the 2026/27 Premier League season dropped on 19 June 2026, and even with the World Cup still dominating the football conversation, supporters now have something else to circle on the calendar. From Coventry City's long-awaited top-flight return to a derby double-header for Manchester United, here's a full breakdown of the new campaign plus every single one of the 380 fixtures.

The Season at a Glance

  • Season starts: Friday 21 August 2026
  • Season ends: Sunday 30 May 2027
  • Total fixtures: 380 (38 match-weeks, 20 clubs)

  • Reminder: Dates and times are subject to change once broadcasters pick their games for live coverage

Opening Weekend: The Headline Fixtures

The curtain-raiser is a genuine title-defence statement match: champions Arsenal host Coventry City at the Emirates on Friday 21 August, pitting the Premier League's Champions against a Championship winner returning to the top flight after 25 years away.

Promoted Hull City welcome Manchester United on the Saturday lunchtime slot, and Sunday closes out with Newcastle United vs Liverpool a fixture that doubles as Andoni Iraola's first competitive match in charge of the Reds.

Who Has the Toughest Start? The Opta Power Rankings Verdict

Opta Analyst has crunched the new schedule using its Opta Power Rankings, a model that rates roughly 10,000 teams worldwide on a 0-100 scale, with Arsenal currently sitting top of the pile at 100.0 and Hull City the league's "easiest" opponent at 82.2. By averaging the strength of each side's opponents, the analysis paints a clear picture of who's been dealt a kind hand and who's facing an early gauntlet.

Easiest opening five fixtures

Manchester United come out on top, with an average opponent rating of 89.3. Michael Carrick's side open away at Hull (their first opening-day away fixture since 2016/17), then host Ipswich, travel to Everton, face the Manchester derby, and round things off at Fulham. Arsenal and Manchester City are tied just behind on 90.9, while Newcastle and Liverpool also enjoy relatively gentle starts after their derby clash on Matchday 1.

Toughest opening five fixtures

New Bournemouth boss Marco Rose has the hardest welcome to Premier League management: a trip to Manchester City on Matchday 1, followed by Everton, Newcastle, Brentford and Liverpool. Sunderland, freshly back in the top flight, also face an early test with Arsenal and City both in their first few games and Coventry's return doesn't get any gentler, starting away at Arsenal before hosting Hull and then travelling to Manchester City.

How it shifts over the first ten games

The picture changes considerably by Matchday 10. Brighton, who already had a tough first five, rocket to the top of the difficulty table for the opening ten matches (average opponent rating 92.6) thanks to back-to-back away trips to Liverpool and Manchester City on Matchdays 8 and 9. Liverpool and Leeds join them on 92.6; for Liverpool, a run that includes City and Arsenal both at Anfield; for Leeds, away trips to Arsenal and Tottenham sandwiched around a home game with Manchester United.

At the other end, Fulham move into pole position for the easiest opening ten (90.1), helped by a kind run of fixtures against all three promoted clubs across Matchdays 6-8. Manchester United (90.6) and Arsenal (90.2) also remain among the most favourably treated, with Arsenal facing only two of last season's top six inside their first ten games.
