The basics

The 2026 FA Community Shield takes place on Sunday 16 August 2026, kick-off 3pm BST, at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Arsenal, as 2025–26 Premier League winners, face Manchester City, who won the 2025–26 FA Cup. This is the 104th edition of the competition.

Why Cardiff?

Wembley Stadium is hosting The Weeknd's 'After Hours til Dawn' tour between 14 and 19 August, so the fixture moves to Cardiff. It's the first time the Community Shield has been played outside England since 2006, and the first time at the Principality Stadium since that year too. The venue hosted the shield every year between 2001 and 2006 while Wembley was being rebuilt.

How to buy tickets

Official tickets went on sale through each club's ticketing portal. Manchester City's allocation opened from 16 July 2026; Arsenal's from 20 July 2026. Both clubs received roughly 26,000 seats each, with priority access tied to membership tier.

Getting to the Principality Stadium

Cardiff Central railway station is roughly a five-minute walk from the ground. Direct trains run from London Paddington (around two hours), Bristol Parkway and Birmingham New Street. If you're driving, Cardiff has park-and-ride options on match days, but the city centre gets congested well before kick-off, so arriving early or using public transport is the practical choice.

Aim to be in your seat at least 30 minutes before the 3pm kick-off, especially if you're unfamiliar with the stadium layout. The Principality Stadium has a closed roof, so it gets loud quickly once both sets of fans are in.
