Premier League
This Event Has Finished
This event took place on 03 May 2026 at Old Trafford. Tickets are no longer available.
Date, kick-off and venue
Manchester United host Liverpool at Old Trafford on Sunday, 3 May 2026, with kick-off at 3:30pm BST. The match is Premier League Matchday 35. Sky Sports Main Event and Sky Sports Premier League both carry the game live in the UK, with coverage starting from 2pm.
Can you still get tickets?
Old Trafford is a sell-out for this fixture. Manchester United allocate the vast majority of seats to season ticket holders and official members first, so if you're not already in one of those categories, the club's own site is unlikely to have availability at this stage in the season.
Liverpool's away allocation at Old Trafford is small and distributed through Liverpool FC's official ticketing system to members, with priority based on loyalty points. If you haven't already secured one through that route, official away tickets are almost certainly gone.
Verified resale marketplaces with buyer protection are the realistic option for most fans at this point. Prices on the secondary market for a fixture of this profile sit well above face value, and they tend to rise further as kick-off approaches rather than fall. Buying earlier in the week generally gives you more choice and a calmer process than leaving it to Saturday night.
When buying from any resale platform, check that the listing specifies the seat category, confirms e-ticket or print-at-home delivery, and carries a buyer guarantee. Avoid private sales on social media where there is no protection if the ticket doesn't arrive or is invalid on the gate.
Getting to Old Trafford
- The Metrolink tram is the most straightforward option. The Old Trafford stop on the Altrincham/Eccles line is a short walk from the stadium.
- Trains run from Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Oxford Road to Deansgate, from where you can pick up the tram or walk in around 25 minutes.
- Driving is not recommended. Parking near the ground is limited and surrounding roads close for matchday management. If you do drive, park further out and tram in.
- Aim to arrive at least 45 minutes before kick-off. Turnstile queues for a game this size build quickly, and the Stretford End and away end areas get congested.
Bring a valid photo ID if your ticket is name-specific, and check the club's ground regulations on bag size before you travel. Old Trafford has a bag policy that catches people out if they bring a large rucksack.
What's at stake in the table
Going into Matchday 35, Manchester United sit third with 61 points, three ahead of Liverpool in fourth on 58 points. Both clubs have recorded 17 league wins, but United's goal difference of +14 edges Liverpool's +13. A United win would move them six points clear of Liverpool with three games left, which would effectively settle the Champions League qualification picture between these two sides.
United beat Liverpool 2-1 in the reverse fixture at Anfield in October 2025, with goals from Bryan Mbeumo and Harry Maguire. The winner came in the 84th minute. That result ended United's five-game winless league run against Liverpool, and a win here would give them three consecutive league meetings without defeat against the Reds for the first time in a decade.
Team news
United manager Michael Carrick said ahead of the match that Matheus Cunha, absent against Brentford with a hip flexor problem, had done some work in training and the club were hopeful he would be available. Luke Shaw came off injured in that same Brentford win and Carrick was less certain about the full-back's fitness.
Liverpool have a longer injury list. Mohamed Salah is set to miss out with a hamstring problem. Hugo Ekitike ruptured his Achilles last month. Alisson Becker is a doubt, and Giorgi Mamardashvili is ruled out with a knee injury. Wataru Endo and Conor Bradley are also absent.
Recent form
United's last five Premier League results include three wins, one draw and one defeat, with the most recent being a 2-1 home win over Brentford. Liverpool have won three consecutive league games despite their injury problems, and conceded just twice in their last three league outings.
Liverpool's last four Premier League wins over United all came with a clean sheet, with their most recent victory while conceding a goal coming in May 2021. United's home record this season stands at 11 wins from 17 matches.
